Mary Sandberg hospitalized again - May 11th, 2002 by Eileen Zirbel
Mary has had 2 stem cell transplants. The first one was done Good Friday, however her blood counts never came back up like they were supposed to, so a 2nd was done a few weeks later. Both transplants used Mary's own stem cells which had been collected earlier. The second tranplant is working. Her white cell count was up to 5300 Friday, as it should be, however her red cell count was dangerously low. She also had 102* temperature and a "positive" test result (bad) for a "bug" of some kind. Mary was readmitted to the hospital following a routine check-up Friday 5-10-02.She had been nauseous and sick for several days prior to the appointment. She is back on intravenous, getting a few units of blood already yesterday, and probably a few more today. Your prayers are appreciated!!
